Docomomo International together with Docomomo Puerto Rico are willing to raise awareness regarding the risk of demolition of  the Normandie Hotel, designed by Félix Benítez and Raúl Reichard, San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1942. The Normandie Hotel is part of the national heritage and is a landmark for the Old San Juan area. Instead of its demolition, solutions to repair and renovate can be found to make good use of its structure. Henry Klumb House, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Docomomo International regrets to inform that Henry Klumb House in San Juan, Puerto Rico, built in 1949 by the renowned German-born architect Henry Klumb, a former student and chief draftsman of Frank Lloyd Wright, was destroyed by fire on 10th November 2020. Henry Klumb designed the home for himself after he settled in Puerto Rico in 1944. The Klumb House was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and The World Monuments Fund added the house to its 2014 World Monuments Watch list, which helps in the process of gathering funds to restore monuments. Dear Docomomo Chapters, Due to the exceptional circumstances of COVID-19, we are extending the deadline of June 1st to August 15th, 2020. A plan for new documentation homework has been approved in the last Council Meeting, August 30th, 2018 (Ljubljana, Slovenia), proposed by the ISC/Registers. With the aim of moving forward to the documentation of conservation good practices, Docomomo Working Parties (WP) have to submit: Working Parties that already have submitted 30 Documentation Fiches and uploaded 50 sites to MOMOVE: (a) 1 fiche for 2019 and 1 fiche for 2020, on an example of Good Conservation Practice. Download the template here: link, and here: link.
