Revisões e Ampliações da Arquitetura e do Urbanismo Modernos no Brasil [Revisions and Expansions of Modern Architecture and Urbanism in Brazil]
Organized by Prof. José Carlos Huapaya Espinoza, edited by PPGAU / UFBA and EDUFBA, 2021

Docomomo International is pleased to share the collection Revisões e Ampliações da Arquitetura e do Urbanismo Modernos no Brasil [Revisions and Expansions of Modern Architecture and Urbanism in Brazil]. The collection consists of a total of 25 texts organized in two volumes: Part 1 History and Historiography / Theory and Practices of Intervention, Preservation and Restoration and Part 2 Modernism as Culture / Inventory and Documentation. This set of works constitutes a selection of the contributions of researchers from all over Brazil and Latin America elaborated for the 13th Docomomo_Brasil Seminar, held at the Faculty of Architecture of the Federal University of Bahia from October 7 to 10, 2019 and organized by Docomomo_Brasil Núcleo Ba.Se.

The holding of this event is more than significant as the Seminar returns to the same place where the first edition took place, in 1995, and whose central theme was (Re)Discutindo o modernismo. Universalidade e Diversidade do Movimento Moderno em Arquitetura e Urbanismo no Brasil [(Re) Discussing modernism]. Universality and Diversity of the Modern Movement in Architecture and Urbanism in Brazil. In this sense, this collection, on the one hand, proposes not only to revise and expand the production developed in the last 25 years of the seminars, with a simultaneously retrospective and, in particular, prospective look, looking to the future and pointing and filling gaps in historiography ; but it also seeks to understand it from possible national and international networks and articulations.

The collection sponsored by CNPq was organized by Prof. José Carlos Huapaya Espinoza and was edited by PPGAU / UFBA and EDUFBA and brings the contributions of researchers from all over Brazil and Latin America.

The book’s official launch will take place during the UFBA 2021 Virtual Congress.
