The McLaughlin Planetarium

The McLaughlin Planetarium building, designed by Allward and Gouinlock firm, opened in 1968 as a part of the Royal Ontatio Museum. The planetarium was closed to the public in 1995, stripped of its equipment, and then used primarily as a storage until 2009, when the University of Toronto acquired the property.
Sadly, the building is now under threat of demolition, as the University of Toronto announced plans to tear it down on September 9th, 2015. New complex housing a multi-disciplinary performance hall, a Centre for Jewish Studies research facility, and gallery space for a Jewish museum is planned to be erected in The McLaughlin Planetariums lot.
