Scott Robertson, President of Docomomo Australia, awarded Bathurst Macquarie Heritage Medal

Docomomo International is pleased to announce that Scott Robertson, President of Docomomo Australia, member of the Advisory Board of Docomomo International and of the Editorial Board of Docomomo Journal, was awarded with the Bathurst Macquarie Heritage Medal last 6th May 2017, in Bathurst, Australia.

The Bathurst Macquarie Heritage Medal is an Australian annual prize to an individual who demonstrates a significant contribution to the protection or promotion of Australia´s built, social, cultural or environmental heritage.

Scott Robertson has almost 40 years experience as an architect and 30 years as a heritage consultant, expressing a lifetime commitment to the cause, exalted on the excellent quality of his work.

His on-going professional experience goes through many different areas, such as his academic involvement as a tutor or lecturer in several universities, as an experienced lecturer in numerous conferences in Australia and abroad, his architecture practice, as a heritage consultant with his own business — Robertson & Hindmarsh Pty Ltd, Architects — and his frequent theoretical involvement with a large number of articles for newspapers, journals and chapters in books.

Scott Robertson has held many different positions in the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and the Art Deco Society of NSW Inc, and has had a very active role in institutions dedicated to the preservation of heritage, as within Docomomo International, Australia ICOMOS, the National Trust of Australia (NSW) and the Society of Architectural Historians of Australia and New Zealand. Docomomo Australia was founded by him, in 2000.

Within Docomomo, Scott Robertson has been a vital element not only for the Australian chapter, through the organization of exhibitions, lectures, tours, heritage in danger campaigns and architecture documentation and registration, but also acting as a member of the Docomomo International Advisory Board, since 2001, and of the Docomomo Journal editorial board, since 2014.

As member of the Docomomo International Advisory Board, Scott Robertson has been acting, through his active participation in Docomomo major decisions, as one of the main supporters and promoters of the notable collective efforts towards the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement that has been undertaken worldwide, in the last 28 years. Scott Robertson has been, in particular, a major actor within the high quality and improved Docomomo actions of the most recent years which have been enthusiastically recognized by members, partners and friends worldwide, such as the Docomomo International Virtual Exhibition. Furthermore, within the edition of Docomomo Journal, his experienced feedback, critical review, and full English voluntary revision, always improve the quality of each edition.
