Severely damaged by fire: Paganini House
by Iwan Iwanoff, Perth, Australia, 1965
The Paganini House, built in 1965 by renowned Bulgarian-born architect Iwan Iwanoff, was destroyed by fire on 21st December 2015. It is believed that the owners of the property, were overseas at the time of the fire.
This landmark of Perth, was waiting to be assessed for inclusion on the State Heritage Register, after being recommended for listing in 2006.
Iwan Iwanoff designed many significant buildings in Western Australia, two of which were already listed on the register (Marsala House in Dianella and the Northam Council Offices and Library).
Undoubtedly, this is an irreversible loss for Australian Modern Movement architecture.
