Seminar: L´Heritage Candilis
27 November 2015, 2-6 pm, Fondation Héllénique, Paris, France
Twenty years after his death, the architectural heritage of Georges Candilis (1913-1995) has been subject of controversy. In 2015 one of his major works, the University of Mirail in Toulouse, almost entirely demolished, has given the opportunity for a real public debate on the role, contributions and values of this innovative architecture. The seminar, organized at the Fondation Héllénique, intends to study the ways and the problems of the patrimonialization of the architectural work of Georges Candilis. It will cover an analytical look at the many works of the architect, encouraging a reflection on how contemporary society has built relationships with its recent past.
