Conference: The Arab Center for Architecture
12th January 2019, Calouste Gulbenkian Museum Main Building, Lisbon
DATE: 12/1/2019
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation held the conference "The Arab Center for Architecture" on the 12th January, on the occasion of the recent exhibition "Art and Architecture between Lisbon and Baghdad".

"The creation of the Arab Center for Architecture in 2008 in Beirut, marked a step towards more recognition of the importance of modern architectural heritage. This talk briefly presents modern architecture in Lebanon and its current condition, namely the misconception about identity in architecture. The presentation moves to reflect on the activities of the centre, namely the building of a physical archive in Lebanon, preservation support, curating of exhibitions, organising conferences, workshops and publications about modern architecture in the Arab world."

The conference, held in English, counted with George Arbid, chair of Docomomo Lebanon, as speaker.
