Theme:
Architecture is one of the most defining and determining activities of the history and identity of a city.
Take for example the transition period from the 19th to the 20th century, this reality is particularly evident in Lisbon from the mid-twenties of the last century until today, characterized by an extraordinary variety of architectural styles. Significant projets and architects have been able to somehow shape this period and this city, namely Jorge Segurado (1898-1990), Francisco Keil do Amaral (1910-1975), Ruy Jervis d´ Athouguia (1917-2006), Nuno Teotónio Pereira (1922-2016) and Nuno Portas (1934-), Raúl Hestnes Ferreira (1931-2018), Álvaro Siza Vieira (1933-), Tomás Taveira (1938-) and Gonçalo Byrne (1941-).

For the duration of eight seminars, very different and relevant projects in the municipality of Lisbon will be studied and interpreted, from the mentioned period, which, as a whole, have contributed decisively to a better understanding of Architecture in Portugal. The proposed “itinerary” will go through the most iconic buildings in Lisbon, between the 30´s and the present.

These seminars are preceded by the opening session, which presents the architectural spoils found in the Lisbon Municipal Archive and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
