Claude Parent (1923-2016)
Claude Parent passed away on 28th February 2016
docomomo International wishes to convey the most sincere condolences at the passing of Claude Parent, a relevant architect and theoretician of architecture, to his family and friends.
"Claude Parent was born in 1923 and has consistently appeared as a maverick figure in the field of architecture; a member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts, once a student of Le Corbusier, he was the practician and theoretician of the ´oblique function´, which he formulated with the philosopher Paul Virilio. For all his career, he engaged in re-thinking and actually changing the way humans live - by creating unbalance, and thereby making them aware of their own being."
Information about the exhibition "Claude Parent - L´oeuvre construite, l´oeuvre graphique" held in 2010 at Cite de l´Architecture et du Patrimoine, in Paris, France, can be found here.
