36th Salon of Architecture: Architect Bogdan Ignjatovic and the Building of the German Embassy in Belgrade
The importance and relevance of architect Bogdan Ignjatovića is insufficiently known in our wider, even professional audience. Despite being the author of several iconic and most popular buildings of Belgrade (Hotel Park, Belgrade Drama Theatre, Gallery of Frescoes), his name appears on very sporadically, even rather reduced and modestly, in various surveys and discourses of the capital’s post-war architecture .
Panel discussion at the Salon of Architecture will be a unique opportunity to remember this important Belgrade architect, whose oeuvre, unfortunately, we came to dealing with only in a situation where one of his anthological buildings is in a state of potential destruction. The importance of his work and the circumstances, in which the building of the German embassy in Belgrade currently is, will be discussed by the witnesses of the epoch , the researchers and authors of the younger generation.
National section of Docomomo Serbia exists since 2010.
