Conference: From Collections to Architectural Museums - Reflections on the Future Museum(s) of Architecture in Portugal

“The initiative takes place next Friday, January 15, 2016, from 18:00, and includes the participation of the architect Pedro Gadanho - director of MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Corinne Bélier - director of the Musée des Monuments Français, Cité de l´architecture et du Patrimoine, Paris, Guus Beumer - director of Het Nieuwe Instituut (The New Institute), Rotterdam, and Penelope Curtis - director of the Museum and Modern Art Center of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (moderator).

This is the 1st session of two (the next on a date to be announced) which aims to discuss the state of the art of architectural collections and museums on the international scene with some of the leading institutions in the area, and the future of the future Museum(s) of Architecture in Portugal, in a year which will open the MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon, and it´s expected the opening of the new facilities of Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos. To this adds the mediatized question of the tripartite destination of the architect Alvaro Siza´s archive, between the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Serralves and the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA).”
