Conference: II Conference. Construction History in Portugal
6 November 2015, Centre for Urban Information, Lisbon, Portugal
The event intends to keep establishing a critical corpus on the specificities of the study of the discipline in Portugal following the First Conference “Construction History in Portugal: alignments and foundations”, held at the CIUL- Centre for Urban Information (Lisbon City Council) in 2010.
The First conference was followed by the international colloquia organized by the University of Minho between 2010 and 2014 on different CH topics. The First International Congress on Portuguese-Brazilian Construction History in Vitória do Espírito Santo – Brazil in 2013 and the recently created Portuguese Society for Construction History Studies helped to create a solid basis in this field of knowledge.
The presentations at the II Conference will discuss distinct aspects on how Portugal built in different historical periods in their own cultural, technological, economic and social contexts, integrated within the transformations and technological innovations worldwide. The authors of the communications develop their research in different fields of study at the University of Lisbon, New University of Lisbon, Autonomous University of Lisbon, University of Porto and University of Minho. They will present specific perspectives integrated in the methodology of Construction History as a model for further studies.
The Conference is addressed to researchers and professionals related with knowledge systems within the Construction sector in Portugal.
