"Angola Cinemas" honors the fantastic, unique and unknown architecture of movie theatres in Angola, built in the decades before the end of Portuguese colonial rule in 1975. Although cinemas in Angola were initially designed as traditional closed spaces, later on in the 60s, open air cinemas with terrace bars introduced a new era, especially since they were far better adapted to these cinemas all over Angola, the editors want to document an exceptional architectonic treasure and promote a reflection about cultural, social and affective heritage.

Texts in German, Portuguese and English.
