News: Conservation of Louis Kahn’s Salk Institue

“Following three years of research, the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), based in Los Angeles, California, USA, has commenced with construction work on site to conserve the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, in San Diego, also California. The institute is housed in an outstanding Modernist building complex, designed by famous architect Louis Kahn and completed in 1965. The conservation work is part of the GCI´s Conserving Modern Architecture Initiative and executed by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. of Pasadena, California, with advice from London-based Peter Inskip + Peter Jenkins Architects. The conservation project is due for completion in the spring of 2017.”
