Call for Entries: 2016 Simon Architecture Prize
16 September 2016, Fundació Mies van der Rohe - New Simon Architecture Prize
" FUNDACIÓ MIES VAN DER ROHE has supported the creation of a new architecture award: Living Places - Simon Architecture Prize.
The aim of the Prize is to single out those architectures of excellence that foster the adaptation of spaces in the quest for the comfort of their inhabitants. Architectures that become transformed into places of quality for people in their daily lives: for working, learning, playing... Architecture to be lived in.
This European-scale prize is open to all projects which were finished and had already been put into use within the 2 year period from the 1st of January 2014 to the 31st of December 2015.
Among the great number and variety of architecture contests, Living places - Simon Architecture Prize is characterised by an approach defined on the basis of the perspective of the inhabitant, by adopting the video format as the essential means by which to explain the individual work; and by a participation process that inlcudes inhabitants and allows them to propose those works they regard as worthy of consideration by the Jury.
Collective places and Personal places constitute the two award categories, a reflection of interest in architecture projected and explained from the perspectives of the user, an interest that focuses on the experiences that put spaces to the test, not that grade 0 of architecture frozen in the moments prior to its being launched into society and the city.
Living Places - Simon Architecture Prize is an initiative of Simon and is developped by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe. "
Registration and participation are free.
