Diogo Seixas Lopes (Lisbon, 1972-2016) was a Portuguese architect, graduated from the Architectural Faculty of the Technical University of Lisbon. PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, supervised by the Professor Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani. He was a visiting professor at the Coimbra University and at the Carleton University in Ottawa (Canada). He also developed research fellowships in the Canadian Centre for Architecture and in the Portuguese National funding agency for science, research and technology. Founder of the Portuguese architectural studio Barbas Lopes Architects, together with the architect Patricia Barbas. Also, he was vice-director of the architectural magazine by the National Board of Architects, Jornal Arquitectos and general co-commissioner of the Architecture Triennial in Lisbon 2016, together with the architect Andre Tavares. With the Portuguese architect Goncalo Byrne, he has recently concluded the Thalia Theatre Requalification in Lisbon. His work has been nominated for the following awards: Icon Awards 2012, Designs of the Year 2013, and the Mies van der Rohe Award 2013.
