Docomomo
Conferences
Every two years
Docomomo organizes an international conference, providing an opportunity to inquire
into a theme that deals with an important aspect of the modern movement. The
conferences are also a platform where specialists from all over the world can meet,
exchange knowledge and make contacts.
The two-day tours following the three days of the conference are an opportunity for the participants to visit the modern heritage of the region hosting the event.
Since 2006, an international student workshop is organized in the frame of the conference, gathering worldwide universities and schools of architecture to combine theory and practice on a case study with the participation of different generations of researchers in the field. The first workshop focused on the Ataköy neighborhood, in Istanbul, and the last one, in 2008, worked on the Lijnbaan/Coolsingel-strip in Rotterdam.
| The next and Eleventh Conference will take place in Mexico City, on August 19–27, 2010 and will be dedicated to “Living in the Urban Modernity.” |
It will be held at the Faculty of Architecture of the National Autonomous University (UNAM), declared World Heritage by Unesco in 2007. The Third International Docomomo Student Workshop will take place at the Xochimilco Campus of the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM). Original papers are invited for submission before September 15, 2009 under the following sub-themes:
(1) Modern Living;
(2) Civic and Social Infrastructures;
(3) The Modern City;
(4) Technology for a Modern Habitat;
