International Specialist Committee
on Urbanism+Landscape (ISC/U+L)
The mission of the ISC/Urbanism+Landscape is to promote research, documentation and protection of modern ensembles and environments, as opposed to individual ‘setpiece’ monuments. In practice, our current work focuses almost exclusively on research and documentation.
Recent initiatives have included: a pilot digital documentation initiative covering a 1950s–60s planned new town; a succession of international conferences and symposia on issues within urban conservation (including mass housing, Southern Hemisphere urbanism, and the relationship between modernism and urban conservation); a special Docomomo Journal (39) on mass housing; and a research initiative intended to set out constraints and management issues affecting MoMo landscape heritage.
The current members of ISC/U+L are:
Parmeet S. Bhatt, Docomomo India
Ahmed El Hariri, Docomomo Morocco
Miles Glendinning (chair), Docomomo Scotland
